In the summer of 2017, Skunk Social partnered with Ocean Ambassadors to help raise awareness and funds for a marine debris research expedition in the South Pacific. The project employed guerilla marketing via a campaign of hide-and-seek across Canada. Jewelry, made from pieces of plastic previously ingested by the seabirds Dr. Jennifer Lavers studies, was left for Canadians to find, with hints spread on social media. The pieces were “finder’s keepers”, with one condition: The person who finds it shares on social media a message around marine-debris awareness.
