Emily Kennedy, Co-Founder
Emily has worked as an editor at iPolitics, she was the senior editor for Ottawa Magazine, the web editor and social media manager for Taste and Travel Magazine, she was the lead writer and content strategist for the creative branding agency Northern Army, and she is also the founder of the online music publication Damn Magazine. Emily has a Masters of Journalism from the Carleton School of Journalism. Her research explores innovative business models of magazines in the face of technological disruption. She once spent a year sailing offshore aboard a 41-foot Newport in the South Pacific.
Joanne Steventon, Co-Founder
Joanne has worked as an associate producer with CBC Radio in Ottawa and before that she worked with CBC’s communications team. In this work she initiated, managed and contributed to a number of social media accounts. In addition to working with sound, Joanne also specializes in video production and photography. Joanne has a Masters of Journalism from the Carleton School of Journalism. Her research looks at digital transformation in Canadian newspapers.
Tom Hall, Associate
Tom’s writing and photography has been featured in Canadian Geographic, Canoe & Kayak Magazine, The Walrus, the National Post , the Postmedia chain, and more. Tom has documented several of CanGeo’s “Canada’s Coolest Class Trip” projects. He also worked with Outward Bound and Canadian Wildlife Federation on a partnership to Alberta’s White Goat Wilderness area with a group of 16 to 18-yearolds. Before beginning a career in journalism, Tom represented Canada in the sport of sprint canoeing and won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
